Why online learning needs to get social

This article post talks about the role of social networks in online learning, and contains further links to some pretty amazing online learning courses. Seemed pretty relevant to FOC2010!

  1. Hi Jean, I'm just thinking about the message of this article and wondering how we can apply its message more into FO2010? What do you think?

  2. Actually, I think FOC is already there. The point of the article, for me, was that online learning needs to be social, responsive and flexible. My experience of FOC has been exactly that. I've broadened my PLN, have found fascinating new bloggers to follow, have chatted with participants halway around the world, and have even got going on Twitter at last! The course has proved to me that we can't oppose the move to social networking (why would we want to?) but we can incorporate the tricks and techniques that make social networking so attractive, into our courses.

  3. I was thinking about the example of the oil spill and was wondering what the equivalent was for us...
